Global Outreach Charter Academy for the Arts

Because schools need the arts as much as students need schools.

Today, our students spend countless hours preparing for standardized tests and core academic studies. The arts, meanwhile, face slashes in funding every year.

But what role does art actually play in our students’ social and academic lives?

Here are a few fast facts:

  • The Americans for the Arts reports that students who participate in the arts for at least three hours a day, three days a week are as much as four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement than those who do not participate in the arts!

  • According to the National Endowment for the Arts, “Arts-engaged high school students enrolled in competitive colleges — and in four-year colleges in general — at higher rates than did low-arts-engaged students”

  • Research shows that, in addition to improving students’ math and reading capabilities, music skills also stimulate creativity, aid social development, promote a positive sense of self-worth, and more!

Sounds good, doesn’t it?

Despite this evidence, the State of Florida does not define the arts in statute or code as a “core” or academic subject, meaning students of all ages are less likely to be given arts-oriented time while in school.

Thankfully a public charter school structured with an arts-centered curriculum can help to address these problems!

Designed to seamlessly blend core academic studies with those of the arts, GOCA Arts will provide comprehensive education to its students in Duval County.

Plus, no auditions are necessary to enroll!
